Allegation of selling a baby boy to buy iPhone-14
Sometimes we find reports like children being sold due to hunger or starvation. But this time it has been alleged that a couple has sold their eight-month-old son to buy an iPhone.
Indian Express reported this information in a report on Friday (July 28). The incident took place in the Ganganagar area of Panihati in North 24 Pargana of West Bengal, India.
According to the report, Jaydev Ghosh and Sathi Ghosh, residents of 24 Pargana, have a seven-year-old daughter and an eight-month-old son. But they sold their son to buy a phone.
Police have already arrested Sathi Ghosh. But her husband is absconding. An operation is underway to catch him.
A police complaint has been filed against the couple and the woman who bought the child in this incident.
Police say, the couple sold their child and bought an iPhone-14 to make a video on the phone and publish it as an Instagram reel.
To whom the child was sold, their house is in Khardah of the same district. The police recovered the child from Priyanka Ghosh, who bought the eight-month-old child.
During interrogation, the mother of the sold child confessed to the crime and told a police officer that she and her husband wanted to travel across the state and post videos of them on Instagram. That is why they sold their baby boy.
According to the police, the child's father planned to sell his seven-year-old daughter too. But he did not do that later.
